Nuno Sebastião, CEO and founder of Feedzai, and Tekever were distinguished, respectively, as Businessman of the Year and Business Achievement of the Year by the Expresso Economia Award | Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD).
Selected by the Expresso editorial team, the choice of Nuno Sebastião is justified, in part, by Feedzai’s performance this year: it raised another 75 million dollars, making it worth more than two billion dollars; participated in the purchase of Australian DemystData, which cost 100 million; the European Central Bank chose it to develop a digital euro fraud detection mechanism and they formed “a very strong partnership with Mastercard”.
In total, at this moment “we protect 9.5 trillion dollars (8 billion euros)”, said Nuno Sebastião in his acceptance speech.
The choice of Tekever, a technology company applied to security and known for manufacturing drones, is justified because this year it reached unicorn status – worth more than a billion dollars – and because it is winning several projects at an international level, such as the contract for surveillance of European waters signed with the European Maritime Safety Agency (AESM).
The award ceremony took place this Tuesday, at CGD’s headquarters, in Lisbon, and in addition to these two awards, a further 19 distinctions were given to companies that stood out over the previous three years in seven different categories: growth in turnover; export growth; job growth; women in management; companies over 50 years old; growing companies and also the country and the companies in that country that contributed most to the growth of the Portuguese economy.
The choice of these distinctions is no longer the responsibility of the Expresso editorial team, but rather of Informa DB and Deloitte, which prepare the list of the 1000 largest companies in Portugal, which includes all the winners.
