La Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reprobó la mañana de este martes el episodio de violencia que se vivió ayer en el Congreso de la Ciudad de México (CdMx).

Mexico City, December 16 (However).- The President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo This Tuesday morning, he condemned the episode of violence that occurred yesterday in the Congress of the Mexico City (CdMx)where there were pulling, pushing and even hitting.

“Very bad. It’s bad that this spectacle that took place yesterday is happening, honestly. A call to all deputies from all groups. It doesn’t have to lead to violence,” he said during his morning press conference.

“I believe that this should not happen. You can be against a proposal, you can even take a stand. We did it at the time against some laws, but falling into acts of violence is not… It is condemnable. It should not be,” added Sheinbaum Pardo.

Meanwhile, Clara Brugada Molina, Head of Government of Mexico City (CdMx), yesterday called on opposition legislators to avoid using violent strategies to stop the approval of the budget for 2026, this following the brawl that occurred in the capital’s Congress, in which members of the National Action Party (PAN) and Morena benches clashed.

On Monday, a fight broke out between PAN members and Morenistas during the ordinary session of the CdMx Congress, which began after the PAN faction accused that Morena did not respect an agreement for the new transparency body to be tripartite and as an act of protest took the stand.

Due to this mess, a recess was declared and the session subsequently continued without the presence of the opposition benches, so with the majority of Morena and its allies, the reform was approved that extinguishes the Transparency Institute of the capital, in addition to the CdMx Expenditure Budget for 2026.

After the legislators of the CdMx Congress started the brawl in which they exchanged pushes, blows and even hair pulling, the Head of Government He criticized the opposition’s position, and asked the deputies to prioritize dialogue.

Regarding the disagreements expressed by the PAN bench regarding the reform for the extinction of the transparency body, Brugada stated that his Administration has maintained healthy finances and that the capital is “better than ever, in economic and investment terms.”

The capital’s president asked members of the opposition not to resort to strategies of this type to stop the approval of the budget for 2026 or other reforms. In turn, he called on legislators related to his movement to resort to dialogue and not violence.

“There are all the arguments to debate, to win the debate, to build agreements, to dialogue, for everything that the City Congress implies. So I call for it to be resolved in the best way. Everything has its consequences at the political level, I mean, if it is approved or not approved. We are responsible for each project,” Brugada commented.
