The exact moment of the fall of a small plane near the Toluca International Airport (AIT), in the State of Mexico (Edomex) was recorded on video.

The incident occurred at 12:31 a.m. on Monday, December 15, on Industria Automotriz Street and Miguel Alemán Boulevard, San Pedro Totoltepec neighborhood, causing the death of all the people traveling in it. According to the information provided by the authorities, the damaged vehicle is a Cessna Citation III private jet aircraft, with registration XA-PRO.

The first reports detail that the aircraft came from Acapulco, Guerrero, bound for the Toluca International Airport, when it allegedly began to fail.

The Secretary of Security of the State of Mexico, Cristóbal Castañeda, said that, According to information from the “Estrella” air services company, there were eight passengers and two crew members on board; however, only six bodies had been found during the fire suppression efforts. A seventh was later confirmed.

“There were fuel and gas tanks, so preventive action was carried out in coordination with Civil Protection and two blocks around were evacuated,” the official added.

After the incident, the authorities activated the Incident Command System, since the area of ​​the incident has various industrial warehouses.

FGR investigates the plane crash in Toluca

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has already opened an investigation file into the crash of the aircraft.

“The institution sent agents from the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), specialized experts and elements of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), to the scene in order to collaborate at all times with the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico”the agency highlighted in a statement.

Sheinbaum confirms that there were no survivors

When questioned about the issue, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo confirmed this morning that the small plane was transporting a family traveling from Acapulco to the Toluca Airport, and that there were no survivors.

“It is a family that was traveling, coming from Acapulco to the Toluca airport. Everyone died, including the pilot. We send our condolences to their family and friends”he expressed.

He also pointed out that there is a first hypothesis related to a technical failure, however, he stressed that the FGR will be in charge of carrying out the corresponding expert opinion to clarify the causes of the accident.

“It seems that it is a technical failure of the aircraft, but until the expert report is done we cannot speculate”he pointed out.
