The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation distributed food aid to 500 families affected by floods in Indonesia.

The authority stated in a statement that more than 750 people lost their lives, more than 2,500 others were injured, and 650 people were lost in floods and landslides resulting from heavy rains on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, while 576,300 people were forced to flee their homes as a result of the disaster.

It reported that the closure of roads and damage to communications lines in some hard-to-reach villages are hampering relief efforts, noting that it is making emergency relief efforts in the region.

She explained that she distributed food aid to 500 families as part of these efforts, and 2,400 people benefited from the aid.

She noted that she also provided hot meals to 500 afflicted people, and that emergency relief efforts are continuing in the region.

Since last week, several countries in South and Southeast Asia have been witnessing a wave of heavy monsoon rains that caused floods that killed hundreds in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
