The Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, presented this Thursday, November 27, his resignation as head of the Senate. The resignation was formalized before the Senate of the Republic through an official letter read in plenary session.
In the document, dated November 27 and addressed to the president of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, Gertz Manero notified that he is leaving office with immediate effect, and announced that the head of the Federal Executive will propose him “as ambassador to a friendly country.” process that – as indicated – is already underway.

Likewise, he pointed out that, due to this diplomatic appointment, “as of this date and with all the corresponding legal effects,” he retires from the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.
