Bayern Munich survived the fall at its home stadium and among its fans with a difficult draw against Mainz with a score of 2-2 in the 14th round of the German Football League, on Sunday.
Bayern took the lead with a goal from its young star, Lennart Karl, in the 29th minute of the match held at the Allianz Arena, the stronghold of the Bavarian club.
Mainz responded with two goals from Kasper Potulski and Lee Jae-sung in the 2+45 and 67 minutes.
Bayern snatched the equalizer with a goal scored by Harry Kane from a penalty kick in the 87th minute, bringing the English star’s tally to 18 goals in the league this season.
Bayern Munich continued to lose points with a second draw during the last 5 rounds, but kept its record undefeated after raising its score to 38 points in the lead.
As for Mainz, it snatched a valuable point against the defending champion, but remained at the bottom of the standings with 7 points in 18th place.
Dortmund overtakes second place
Borussia Dortmund missed the opportunity to rise to second place by falling into the trap of a 1-1 draw against its host Freiburg after the expulsion of its English midfielder Job Bellingham, the brother of Real Madrid star Jude.
Algerian international defender Ramy Bensbaaini gave Borussia Dortmund the lead in the 31st minute, but his team suffered a painful blow when Bellingham was sent off at the beginning of the second half (53). The hosts took advantage of the numerical disadvantage and equalized through Lucas Hueller with an acrobatic shot (75).
This is Borussia Dortmund’s fifth draw this season and the fourth after advancing in the score, remaining third with 29 points on goal difference behind Leipzig.
