He added that Sheinbaum instructed his team to establish contact with the members of the international mechanism.

“At least here there was a commitment to say, it’s okay if the issue of return, well let’s consider it, we’re going to contact them, so there was a task on the part of their secretary to try to talk to the members of the GIEI…”.

The lawyer explained that, Given the current conditions, the group’s eventual return would initially focus on two specialists.

“What has been pointed out is that it could probably be Carlos Beristáin and Ángela Buitrago because the other people who make up the team also do not know right now how they are in a position to be able to return or not, and that is what is going to be analyzed…”, he indicated.

The meeting took place in a context marked by the recent resignation of Alejandro Gertz Manero to the ownership of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), a fact that also generated comments among family members.

Emiliano Navarrete, father of one of the missing young people, questioned the role of the former prosecutor in the investigation of the case.

“How long it took and the man did nothing; then he is a person who for me I said: how is it possible to have an attorney general, well, what is he doing if he is not solving anything…”, he expressed.
